Outdoors cd audio cable, which side up?

Hello

I am not sure which way is up on the cd audio cable, or does it matter?

building first comp, sorry for the stupid questions.

I don't know, I've been too shy to ask the same qiestion.

although I've tried it both ways and found no difference in sound, maybe it's just left and right and ground

You don't need that cable anyway. It's just for analog audio extraction, and every device can do digital extraction these days.

It should go only one way in (there's a release clip on top of the cable). If it's flat, check at the connector on the cdrom and see where the connectors are (the stuff the metal pieces on the cable should connect to), that's the right way to put it in (if you absolutely must).

It's really no use.

Assuming you've got a flat 4-pin female connector... the connector should have a little raised arrow next to one of the pins. Connect the cable with the arrow pin connected to the "R" (Right) pin on the CD-ROM's connector. It's just like a standard 3 conductor stereo cable: right+left+ground.
