Backup MSN Messenger

Does anyone know how to manually backup MSN Messenger contact list?

Which files?

Any special process?

TIA

Cheers!

The contact list is stored on MS's space, not yours. I have formatted my hard drive a LOT of times without ever backing anything up and every time, my contact list is exactly how I left it when I run MSN Messenger again for the first time after formatting.

Thanks ShawnD1. I use ICQ myself. I haven't a clue about anything that is MSN. A friend of mine is having a a problem logging onto MSN Messenger so I told her to uninstall and reinstall. I thought MSN Messenger might be like ICQ. You loose your list.

Cheers!

Send a message via Yahoo to muno
MS having the list on their site is actually a good idea, I log into messenger from many computers so it's nice to have contacts available from whereever you logon.

MSN is better then ICQ in that respect. Form my experence ICQ is( or at least was) easier to get hacked.

MSN Messenger 6.0 has an option to export the contact list to a file on your pc. This will save as an XML-style file with all the contact's email addresses.

Steps:

Click contacts, and then save contact list.
