Kids Pinging an address

Does the person who owns and runs a PC, can they find out if someone has pinged there address,(Example) if someone was to try and access your PC without your knowledge i.e(HACKERS), and the firewall picks it up and blocks it, and they leave local address and remote address if i had a tracing software will they know that they've had there address pinged. . and can someone tell me what address(LOCAL) or (REMOTE) that i trace thanks for any input.

In past tense, no. You have to be running a program that can monitor ICMP requests (or any other data you desire) and preferably log it into a file. As stated, ethereal is one such tool.

Can a someone else tell if you pinged them: if they are running a tool to monitor it then yes.

Your address should be the local address, remote should be the other computer.
