my computer.
a acorp 6a815epd with 2x p3 1ghz
will not boot to windows without the windows 2000 cd in the drive.
if it is not in i get a boot disc faliure. if it is in it goes boot to cd..... then goes into windows.
i'm not sure if there is a bios feature that causes this or something.
the only bios update i can find is for coppermine support. which i dont think i need.
also it says it only supports 512mb and it only detects 512mb if there is no bios update i can't go beyond that?
It really shouldn't matter in this case. For fastest OS loading go HDD first and remember to change it if you ever need to boot from another device first.
Is this a new quirk of the machine?
I'm pretty sure that you can set a machine to have to have the original CD in to load the OS as kind of a security system and I'm betting this is how your maching got set. I'll have to do some looking to track down how to change this.
well it has had this as long as i've had it. i bought the setup off someone on timo springish and its done this always. it wasn't abig deal when it was the server beacuse it didn't use the cdrom anyway and it hardly ever went down. but its in daily use now.
i'll give the book another look through and see if i can find anything as well.
