Food Help requested, please!

I've got a fairly good computer, AMD Athlon XP Processor 2 GhZ, 512 mb ram.

I can't browse 2 web pages, chat, and listen to a CD at the same time. The CD keeps skipping repeatedly, and often at that. It's getting on my nerves because I used to be able to do SOOO much more than that.

Advice?

Sounds like the CD and/or the drive needs a cleaning.

For the CD, just get soe alchohol and a no-lotion tissue (if you have a floppy disk you want to trash, rip it open and get the tissuey stuff out). Either pour the alchohol on the rag or the CD (doesn't matter). Wipe the Cd going from the inside to the outside. DO NOT GO IN A CIRCULAR MOTION OR YOU COULD DAMAGE THE DISC.

For the drive, you need a cleaning CD. Wal-mart and blockbuster sell them. If it's one for a CD player and not a CD-ROM, just play the track like on a normal player.

Don't Know

Maybe you could help with this - I have (3) processes of "SVCHOST.EXE". One is taking up 4,772k (local service), One is taking up 2,728 (Network service), and the other is a System file using 18,804k.

The other larger memory users are CCAPP.exe, MSIMN.exe, iexplore.exe and of course explorer.exe

Which OS are you using?
If XP, are you running the CD drive in analog mode ie. do you have the little cable that runs from the CD drive to your sound card OR have you configured your CD to run in digital mode?
