FX 5200 vs Ti 4200

My friend just upgraded from a GF3. He initialy ordered the GF4, but the Fed-X guy left it on his door step and someone stole it. So he went and bought a FX5200. He installed it and wasnt quite happy with it. The person who stole his first card returned it. So now he installed the ti 4200 to just try it and he said he likes it better...

Is the ti 4200 better?

Most people here would agree it is much better.
There are several threads stating reasons and preferences.

The 5200 does have DX9 functionality but the Ti 4200 just plain has more kick to it.

They stole it, then returned it?.......... nice.

But definitely, the 4200 is a better card. Even though it's lacking DX9, it simply beats the crap out of the 5200 in the benchmarks I've seen.

Not jump in on someone else's thread but is the FX5600 the upgraded equivalent of the 4200 Ti? Or would you be better off with the 4800Ti than the FX5600? I can't say I can afford to upgrade from my GF3 200 Ti but I'd still like to know.

depends on how u play your games... if it's high res and AA/AF on higest settings, then the FX5200 is for you.

The Ti4200 is still slighty faster then the FX5600... But only the NON-Ultra card... The 5600 Ultra is a bit faster... I think it's a very nice mid-range card for a good price.

So then a 4800Ti would be a really good investment right now if you don't mind doing without the DX9 stuff?

The Ti4600 would be a better choice if you wanted a card without DX9 sprt.

But if you would get that, then you might as well just get the 9500 Pro.
