BF1942 internet play kaput
Hey all, finally got me a copy of BF1942...w00t!
but, I can't connect to any servers I try ( haven't tried ours yet ). I'm on Cable, so it shouldn't be my ping ( I only connect to servers with less than 90 ping ). I've had problems with the whole thing tho'.
First install kept booting back to windows if something went bad ( that was with the 1.4 update patch installed too ). I reinstalled, and can play single player ( with some hiccups from the ol' GF2ti ) without problems now that I got my direct x files and my video driver problem straightened out.
I just can't connect!
Anything I should be checking out? I try to connect through the game, not by going through the gamespy console..perhaps that is it? I dunno....MOH works fine just by going through the multiplayer connections through the game, so does UT2K3.

Are you running Zone Alarm firewall?
It will ask permission in a window behind your 1942 screen. |

I'm having the same connection problems with mine. Even having my router forward TCP and UDP 500-65500 to my machine, I still couldn't join anything.
What cable provider do you have? I've got Comcast.

I'm running comcast also. I run Kerio for my firewall, and it usually pops up over whatever I'm running, or it will shut the screen down....Is there a way to play it windowed? Or perhaps I need to disable it and give it a shot.....Hmmm, thanks for the idea!
I've noticed though, recently my connection seems to run slow on TechIMO and some other websites... noticeably slower. TIMO I can understand to a point, considering the server work going on.
:::runs off to play ::::

Well, no luck on the firewall side. I tried connecting to the TIMO server with no luck also...it's trying to go through port 14567....is that even right? I unfortunately never thought I'd ever get to the networking side of computers! So, I'm treading water in new territory here.

port 14567 is the standard port. in port forwarding, try opening that port, maybe that will correct your problem.

?????? what is Port Forwarding? I'm guessing this is an issue with BF1942 settings, not my cable, because all my bandwidth tests come out with flying colors.

You shoulnd't have to forward any ports or disable any firewalls.
