Nero and CdClone in the same sandbox, won't play together.
I have been using nero express that came with my cd writer. Its been installed for a while now with no problems. Last night, I installed cdclone. All of a sudden, I cannot run Nero. I can click on it and nothing. It simply will not open. If I try and force it, like click on it several times, I get a BSOD with some kind of page file fault. I did not write it down. I uninstalled both programs and then reinstalled Nero, it still will not run. This is not the first time this has happened but it is the first time I have made the direct connection with cdclone. Anyone else ever experienced this and know why? cdclone works great with no probs.
Also, any alternatives to Nero, such as good freeware? I use Alcohol 120 or cdclone for image file creation, so, all I ever use Nero for is saving individual files.

What's your OS? I currently have an XP Pro w/ all the patches at home running both Nero and CloneCD (never heard of CDClone) with no problems.
Also, I know of no freeware alternatives to Nero and to be honest I can't really think of any commerical ones either (but I have a pretty high opinion of Nero).

I like Nero as well. I am running W2K Pro, SP4. I had the same trouble some time ago. Never did figure it out. The only reason why I suspect CdClone is that it happened immediately after I installed clone. Until then, Nero worked like a charm.

Well, I use Nero 6 and Clone CD and no clash of drivers. Used to be Nero Incd would cause Easy CD's directCD to stop working but now with the newest versions tehy seem to get along.
I use Nero 6 for all burning and Clone CD to archieve those hard to copy game CDs.
I agree with Scott that nero is the best although Easy CD 6 is pretty awesome too if you try it.

I went to Roxio's site to see if they had a demo version, but, could not find one. They listed a demo download, but, it is nothing more than a flash demo of the product.
I agree with you. Nero is great software. I just can't figure out why I had this problem. I downloaded the newest version of Nero and I am going to give it a try and see. Will report back.

OK, problem appears to be fixed for now. I just downloaded the newest Nero version (demo) and installed it as well as clonecd and there appears to be no problems. Perhaps there some trouble with those two versions together, I don't know. All I do know is that I am back in business and happy.
BTW, the new Nero has some really great features if they all work. A whole lot better than the express version that came with my burner.
Thanks for all the help!

The Nero 6 version includes Nero Xpress and yes it is great. The GUI is not as good as Easy CD 6 but it has an impressive number of applications.
As for the problem you had, I think if all updates had been installed, you'd be OK. The demo Nero will only work 30 days BTW.
But it is a good investment to buy it or the Easy CD.

yeah, I think I will buy it. I have been messing with it for the past hour and it seems worth it. I like the back up feature. I would like, however, to demo cd creator 6. Do you know if they have a demo of the product. As I said, I went to Roxio's site and did not find one.
