Depends what you want to partition into. If you want to partition with NTFS, there ain't many free ones, and none with a PM-like interface, I don't think.

I'd suggest just using the OS installer partitioning tool, like the one used in XP in the install.

But, as I said, depends what you want to partition into. And what OS you are gonna install.

Cheers
Mick

I always suggest using the drive tools from the manufacture its quick and easy and most have a graphical tool that you can see the partion sizes and what not.

Use the floppy/cd that came with the drive.

The XP partitioning software is actually pretty good per my experiences with it. It does have a graphical aspect to it as well so you can see the relative sizes of your partition(s)

Doc:

If you use XP, the best way is to partition it using a 98se boot disk and format to NTFS using the XP Cd as a boot disk.

You can download a 98SE boot floppy from www.bootdisk.com and use it to fdisk the drive. Enable cd drive as the first boot device and boot from the XP cd and the rest is simple.

I don't know if you can skip the floppy part and directly boot to XP cd when the new drive is "raw". May work.

shahani,
No offense but your post makes absolutely no sense. Why in the hell would you use the 98 bootdisk and partition first. People , people... when will you learn that for all practical purposes when dealing with an NT based OS you can file your old 9x bootdisks away.
The XP setup will take you thru a much simpler and efficient method of partitioning and formatting.
And to answer your question about RAW drives... XP will tell you it is a RAW drive and take you thru the same steps to partition and format.
Finally, there was a thread a couple days ago that dealt with the subject of converting from FAT to NTFS and there is OVERWHELMING data that that is a bad choice.
