should i upgrade?

ok heres the quick run down.
i've been having some stability issues with my current system. i think it might be related to downloading... we won't go into that now.

the current system is a
tyan trinity kt133a with a 1ghz thunderbird
768mb pc133
8500
ect ect
300watt psu

now i have a dualie system
acorp 6a815epd with 2x 1ghz p3's
and 3xxmb pc133
400watt psu

it uses the same 4x agp.
what i've been kicking around is putting the dualie in the comptuer and giving it 1gb ram

would this be worth it? i've gotten a yes and a no from people i'm not all that sure.

and if i did could i just isntall 2k over itself instead of formating? as i hate formating.

i think i would also swap the psu's out.

and i hear the thunderbirds have stablity issues? could that be the problem? if so will it be bad for my webserver?

i think i asked alot but its been bothering me for awhile.

thanks.

edit just incase i wasn't clear. i can't decide if i want to take the amd out of this box and put the p3 in. its 2am and i can't tell if it makes sense or not.

later edit. i think i can only have up to 512mb ram on the acorp... that puts a bit of a damper in the idea. maybe with a flash or something it can take more?
with only 512mb ram is it worth it? it seems the only bios update is for coppermin p3's

Would it be worth it?? Only if you're running applications that are designed to take advantage of the dual processors.

Can you install 2K over itself?? You can try, but the chances of being completely successful aren't that great. I've done it many times with 9x, but I understand that 2k is much less forgiving in this regard.

Do Thunderbirds have stability issues?? No - that's just a persistent rumor that the Intel lovers like to spread. Occasionally there are certain components that just don't work well together - but that can happen on both Intel and AMD systems.

The p3 dualies should give you more performance and since you're using win 2k it'll make use of those two cpus. About the applications, I don't know but my friend had a p3 800 dualies with win 2k and it seems to run everything ok except for some games. Does your dualies have scsi bios? It seems that only server OSes will run on them.
