Kids Pc-cilin over norton av

Can PC-Cilin be installed in addition to or over Norton AV?
The reason I ask is because A friend of mine got a virus on his computer, he tried to load Nortons system works but can't because a previous version is still on it. He can't seem to uninstall previous version. Will pc-cilin install over what ever he has.
(I have not seen the computer yet, just know what he told me)

I don't know why not. Which OS? I've run into a simular problem upgrading Norton AV. Download a program called regcleaner. Run it and remove any keys left by Nortons uninstall. Then the new version should go right on.

He started out with 98 and another friend of mine installed the upgrade to 2nd edition (with the virus still pressent, what ever the virus is) I downloaded the regclean program, I'll give it to him or probably wind up installing and running it for him.

PC-cillin uses less resources than Norton AV... I've used both and much prefer PC-cillin. I've had both installed at the same time to compare features, ease of use, etc. No real problems but startups were a ram killer.

Norton AV is a resource hog and it's almost impossible to disable for gaming, installing apps, drivers, etc that require AV to be disabled. You can completely shut down PC-cillin by exiting the startup app and end-tasking on two running services... they won't complain or start up again a minute later behind your back like Norton does. Also, I've never had PC-cillin start downloading a virus pattern update while I was playing Diablo II like Norton did one time. Couldn't for the life of me figure out why I dropped to a continual 2 FPS until I alt-tabbed and saw an update in progress, lol.

I found that Pc-cillin is easyer to set up and deal with than Macafee or Norton. The one thing about Pc-cillin is it messes up my E-Mail settings. I E-Mailed Tech-support still no answer. Pc-cillin
was also very hard to uninstall.
