Help needed to setup FTP server behing D-Link Router

Hi All,

I am having trouble setting up my ftp server. I am totally lost and ready ro reinstall everything if someone can provide step by step help.

What I have

1. WinXP Professional
2. DI 614+ Router
3. Cable Connection for Internet with static IP
4. BulletProff server software

What I want to do
1. setup server so I can access my hard disk from office through browser.
2. To give rights to my friends to access some files

I am ready to change anything to setup.

Thanks.

first off in the router you will need to forward the port number you will want to use to access the ftp. (defualt is 21)

then you will need to set up bp to be used behind the firewall.

load up the program. click setup > main> muti ip settings > then passive mode. click use passive mode and type in the ip address your ISP gives you. in this area you will need to put in the port number you want to use.

to set up the accounts and directories bulletproof help file is very useful. i suggest you read that over to learn to set up premissions. its very straightforward with pictures and steps.

I did everything what you said, and I can see on bftp screen user is connecting to ftp server but user gets error: you do not have rights to the folder...something like that but that is not true. I have setup all rights to the folder. Do I have to setup anything in network properties of my computer?

Thanks

did you set up the home folder?

the home folder is the local folder ever user will log into, that will have the links to other folders

here i attached and example of the premissions. Make sure if you want them to be able to look in the folder they have the Read premission
