Kids Help me identify stick of SDRAM please

Could someone please tell me what size this stick is? Supposedly it is 256MB PC100 SDRAM. I have installed it in 3 different computers and everyone shows it as 128MB. Now the place I purchased it from swears it is 256MB. I have no clue.

Computer 1: 440BX/LX Micro ATX – shows 128
Computer 2: 440BX ATX – shows 128
Computer 3: DFI ATHLON Board (model unsure) supports PC133 SDRAM – shows 128

Here is what’s on the stick: 32X64s7g4c8nMIC 1002 PC100 222-620 xoxoxoxoxo051203WBL

Here is what’s on the memory modules “8” of them: MT 48LC32M8A2
TG -75 B
1-1

Thanks!!!

Go back to the place and ask them to show what computer detects it as 256MB.

It's highly unlike that 3 computers would false detect a sdram.

Kids maybe

S.A. Technologies, Inc website says the individual chips are 256 megs.

The chip information which S.A. Technologies, Inc presents in their page is based on Micron Technologies datasheet webpage.

The manufacturer of the module is still evading me, after 20 minutes searching. Any logos on the sticks?

Did you remove all other sticks of memory when you tested this stick? Some mobos (err, chipsets) cannot properly tolerate larger sticks being added in if the first sticks were smaller. IOW, the order in which the sticks are installed can make a difference in some instances.

Well ... this is what happens when you plant modern DIMMs in old systems. The SDRAM chips are 256-Mbit technology (32x8 geometry), while at least the Intel BX boards you have there cannot address chips larger than 16x8 (128-Mbit tech). The Athlon board should do the trick with a BIOS update, if one is available (DFI isn't too good at that though).

You need to buy a double-sided, 16-chip 256-MByte DIMM.

I've never seen the logo before.

I'm out of ideas.

As muno said, take it back to the outfit that sold it and ask for an explanation, bring along the model number of the mobo or system the stick will be used in as well, in case they have an index they can use to get you the correct stick.

EDIT: what Peter M said /EDIT

Now I am confused. Both BX boards are running PC133 SDRAM sticks in them now? Each one with 2x 128MB PC133 SDRAM.
So, what your saying is they cannot read a single sided 256MB dimm but are capable off reading a 128MB single sided dimm?

And if I go with a single 256 it would have to be Low Density 2 sided Dimm which roughly costs $70.00 for 256MB compared to $35.00 for the standard High Density.

It's possible that your mobos won't see modules larger than 128 megs in each slot. If you have the manuals it'll tell you what the max mems are and divide it by the number of slots. For example: max mem=384 divided by three slots = 128 per slot.

Crucial sells double sided 256MB PC133 DIMMS for $59.99. You can undoubtedly find them cheaper elsewhere, like on ebay. I just picked up two of them for $15 each.
