Career Advise

I am a 23 yo student from Australia, and nowI am totally lost as far as my future plans are. I was going to uni in Australia for the last 3 yrs. I had fun, but sadly academically I am in the same position where I was 3 years back, to be more precise 2 yrs back. basically I had completed my first year, and after that I had focused on FUN soo much that I missed the academic parts (to put it in straight way I FLUNKED)

Now I am REALLY confused. I have basically three options:

1. Do a DIPLOMA in Network Engineering followed by MCSE and other certifications. This is gonna take me at least 2.5 years.

2. Continue with my Bachelors of Information Tech which is gonna take another 2.5 yrs.

3. Just do the certified coursed which are in demand.

I do have quite good knowledge about computers (and also programming to some extent in VB and Java). And I have set my mind up on IT fields, so I would need your advise. I am NOT an Australian, so I also gotta consider the FEES I am paying here (about 12K for Diploma and 16K for my Bachelors and may be couple of grants 2-3 for the certified courses).

HELP ME, I mean gimme ur suggestion/advise.

My daughter just graduated from college with networking, Cisco, etc and can't find a job in that feild. So she's back to school to become a Para-legal. Since my wife is a legal secretary she be able to help her. She's able to use a lot of the course she took. Can you do the same in a more demanded type of employment.
Bartenders make good money and you can meet alot of women too

Thanks

Not a bad idea at all for the time being......but I would really want a career in IT related fields, or may be a rally driver or something. But being a rally driver, would take a LOT of money and nice car. So I guess I might stick to Networking for the time being......life simply isn't being fair with me lately...........

I'm about to start college and wanted to go into Network Engineering, or computer software engineering (though I hate it)...I've decided it's not a good place to go to.

There are so many young people thinking "Wow, this computer stuff is big. I'll jump into it and build my life around it, because it will be easy to get a job because not that many people know about that stuff!"

Well...everybody thinks that. IT careers are flooded.

Get a degree--a Bachelor's of something...I've got 2 and working towards a Master's. My degrees are in teaching and art...but I was hired based on 1. my skills as an artist and, 2. I beat out any other competition simply bacause I had a 4 year degree as opposed to any certifications or Associates. So get a degree...go as far as you can. The more education you have, the more valuable you are to a company.

Get the degree. Then look at the certs. depending on how your job search goes (unless they are included in the curriculum)
