Outdoors Blue screen of death

Im trying to repair an old Packard Bell Multimedia 850 I can get the system to boot to bios and can access the bios but when I try to go ahead into windows i get blank screen. Replaced the hard drive ,video card and monitor checked out ok anyone have any suggestions

I thought I was the only one that called it that....

as to your question...that happened to me once..all I got was a blinkin' dash...I tried a ton of different things, but when I changed the IDE cable...I was able to boot windows again.

Thanks i tried that too but still having problems I think ill just end up tellin the guy its junked i was hopin to fix it

Do u get any form of an error message? Also, have you tried 2 boot in save mode?

Well, you can change the color of the "Screens of Death" so blue red etc. makes no difference.

When you are in the BIOS have you tried setting the IDE to auto to detect the HD? Does it detect the drive? If yes then have you tried a Win98 startup disk to see if you can go in to the C: directory to see if there is even an OS installed?

I think there are a few more troubleshooting steps I'd take B4 declaring this machine dead. I/we can talk you thru more if you are interested in learning.

Doctor Reno's right. I wouldn't trash it just yet. U might b able 2 fix it.

Went into Bios and tried to get it to auto detect
It does see the hard drive even put in a new one and it saw it
But when I exit Bios Bam NOTHING
Tried the startup disk thinking like you there was a problem with the OS still not nothing.
I hate to tell this guy its junked so any ideas are welcome
