What is this or what does it do??

When my computer starts it says, s.m.a.r.t capable but disabled?


Do i need to enable it?

Its a hard drive thing that checks your hd and "forcasts" future problems. At least thats how I under stand it.

It also prevents errors. I remember when I didn't have it enabled and my computer would lock up and I would have errors and with it on, it didn't do that.
