win xp home installation question

Hey guys, I just wanted to ask a question about XP Home. I built a computer with XP Pro, but my friend wants to buy it from me, and I don't want to sell him my xp pro (it's a full version for I got for only 60 bucks through the university). From my understanding, I can do a clean install with a Win XP Home upgrade, correct? I know sometimes it'll ask you for a different Windows CD just to verify that you have a previous version of windows, and if I'm wondering if my copy of xp pro will work

Thanks guys

I think XP pro will work, if it doesn't, a Win98/ME disk will do. I don't think that the WFW 3.11 floppies can be used with XP though.
It is also possible to crack the CD so it doesn't ask for a previous version, but I won't go into details here for fear of the mods.

How much is your friend going to pay for the XP Home? You can get XP Pro for about $138 at New Egg. Your EULA on the copy you got from the University may not allow for transfer to another machine! Maybe it will.

You might do well to sell it to the guy with the XP installed as is and have him give you what he'll pay for the XP Home!
