Kids Dual vid desktop problem...

Hey all,

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions to a problem I have with a dual monitor desktop computer. I have a motherboard with an integrated vid on it and then later on I got a cheap second vid card that I put in a pci slot so I could do dual monitor. Now here's my problem, I think the second vid card died because it doesn't show up and I've tried to switch the monitors to make sure it wasn't that and then I re-stalled the second vid card and it didn't show up.

Now, at the moment I don't care about the second vid card but what I do care about is that when the second vid was working I placed things like the volume control on that monitor and other stuff. Since the vid card died when I turn my desktop on and I try to view my volume controls it doesn't show up! because it's still trying to show it through the other vid card. Now I've tried to make the resolution bigger to get to it but it didn't work. I'm trying to find a "easy" solution just to be able to see these programs and stuff on my original monitor. I want to avoid wiping my computer or buying another card because either are not worth it. I've been using my laptop but I'd just like to be able to use the stuff on my desktop. Got any solutions?? Thanks guys.

Nick

Double click 'volume control' on the systray (the place for icons, right beside your clock). Right click volume control in application tray (the huge slide between quicklaunch and systray), click 'Move', then press some cursor key (up, down, left, right) and move your mouse all the way to the right/left (depending where the monitor was located).

There should be an option in bios to disable the onboard video card, which in turn would enable the pci card you've bought and route the output from there.
If you connect the monitor to that adapter and it starts up, the card is fine.
But you can verify if it's working by looking at device manager (when the card is in place) and see if it's listed under display adapters. It should be working if it's listed and there are no exclamation marks or red crosses.
