Plextor DVD Drives

We all know that Plextor makes the best burners. Now I see a DVD drive at NewEgg (click here for the link), has anyone had any experience with these drives? I was almost ready to order a Pioneer DVD, but then I saw this and it made me think on second thought.

I have a Plextor burner ( 12 x ) and it has never failed me. However, my first PC had a Liteon CD rom, so I found a deal on a Liteon DVD drive and it has worked excellently. The Plextor sounds like a good deal to me.

If you can hold out for just two more weeks, Plextor is releasing a multi-format (DVD+/-R/RW) with +R speeds of up to 8x! Here is the link:

I have owned plextor, sony and yamaha drives, and my plextors were always the most reliable. They don't call it sexy plexy for nothing!

There's a big difference in prices there JPHEG.

To answer your question ArticFox I've never owned one but like the others have owned a 12x CDRW made by them and it's been rock solid for me in the two+ years that I've owned it. I'm actually in the market for a DVD-Rom myself but will probably go with a Lite-On since the color of thier drives matches the color of my case pretty well. (call me vain )

i have owned plextor, lite-on, and msi. Personally i prefer lite-on or plextor for my cd-rw....but i have found msi to be the best dvd. This thing is quiet, plays all my movies, i love this thing. http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProduc...100-008&depa=1

Do not use with RAID array

I have a LEVEL 5 U160 RAID array on my computer and it won't burn CD-R's. Just DVD+R(W)s. After a long protracted troubleshooting process with Plextor tech support including reloading of the OS with minimal devices and rebuilding my computer without the RAID array, we finally figured out it has something to do with SCSI not allowing the PX-504A to prioritize on the system correctly. At least, that's the explanation they gave me. Since the RAID array is the primary boot device for my computer, I ended up having to remove the PX-504A from my computer. If anyone knows of a brand that has a DVD+RW drive that will work correctly on a system with a RAID array, please let me know.
