Win XP upgrade problem
I recently purchased the upgrade from win 98 to win XP pro. XP wouldn't run well on our old computer so I uninstalled it and am installing it on another computer. I think I have to install win 98 first on the new computer to be able to then install XP since XP is an upgrade. My question is if there is some way to just install the XP without putting 98 on first, since I want to format the new drive in NTFS rather than FAT32 and I understand that win 98 will only format in FAT32. Thanks in advance!

good site martoch. i've done it several times clean from the cd-rom and put in the win 98, 95 or me disk when it asks. it's pretty easy to do.

Dang, Mike you've got an answer for everything! How did you find all these cool websites? That solves a prob I've been worrying about. I even called MicroSoft and they didn't mention anything about how to do it. They just said to re-install 98 first, or to try to return the upgrade and get a refund and then buy the full install. Jerks. Man, I'm glad I found this place. I'm building my first puter and I've got lots of questions in the future. Thanks for the warm welcome guys!
