My Score and overclock problems

With the Original 3Dmark2001 I scored about 10,500. I have the following, so please let me know if thats about right, and how to improve it without changing my vid card.....yet

Gigabyte mobo, GA-8IG1000 Pro(No SVGA) duel bios/channels
P4 2.4 800 fsb (not over clocked cause I dont know how)
512 DDr 400
some Maxtor HD, not sure on the speed
GF4 Ti 4200
Windows Xp office

When I overclock it in Easy Tuner 4, it doesn't save after I restart. I'm thinking its because I have duel bios?! I'm not sure what to turn up in my bios, so I'mm not touching it until I get the facts!

As for 3dMark03
I get some sort of error in the last sound check and the test stops. My score turns out to be 1,400ish. Also atleast one of the test isnt supported....

Thanks
Ed

well as far as being able to tell if your score is on target, just get an account at madonion.com and when you bench, upload your score to the server, and there will be an option that allows you to compare your system with others like yours [your score rather]

Ways to tweak you score, check for these things:

New drivers <- generally a good way to keep everything up to date, but as of late, good way to cheat.

Motherboard drivers and controllers are all in place and up to date, especially with VIA based motherboards.. gotta have those 4 in 1's.

AGP aperature size needs to be 50% of total computer memory. I.E. if you have 512MB of ram, set aperature to 256MB.

Try an overclocking tool like powerstrip, or rivatuner. Rivatuner will place an entry into your registry, thereby activating your OC when you get within windows. Works really good, but you absolutely MUST watch your temperatures, you could lose it all in a few minutes.

tried lightly overclocking your processor? generally about a 10 MHz gain on the FSB is not enough to hurt anything or cause too much strain to system parts, but then again, under the right conditions, everything can go wrong, so be aware that Overclocking voids warranties and puts you in the freeway.

In order to overclock your computer, you will have to navigate the BIOS and find your FSB [front side bus] where it should be set at 200? [is that right, he's got an 800FSB chip] slowly raise the MHz up by steps of 1 or 2 MHz and keep rebooting and watching temperatures/stability. if you make it to say... 210FSB, youve just overclocked 120MHz [according to your cpu multiplier... 12 right?] you may want to make another thread in the overclocking section to get some more experienced help on this topic. but anyway...

goodluck, have fun

Use your Easytune then set the usable settings in your bios---keep reading here and learn alittle more about your system as a whole---(like about XP Office and your hdd's actual speed)---use your system often and learn as much as you can about it---then try tweaking it to its fullest potential---
Which could be GREAT considering what you [might] have...
