WIN98SE problem

Has anyone had this problem? Win98se on a K6-2-450 on a old sis530(i think) mobo that is a all-in-one. Lost modem, dial tone would be static, so I removed dial-up-adapter (after trying 3 different modems including a good usr external) rebooted and got BSOD error was that TEEFER.VXD was makeing a bad call. could boot to the safe mode so I tried reeplacing the teefer.vxd with system file checker. no luck. there is a teefer.vxd in the registrey. ANY ideas??????

I'd go into Add/Remove Programs under the System tab and remove DUN.

Reboot, then go back and reinstall DUN the same way you removed it. You'll need the 98SE CD, so don't do it if you don't have it. Unless you have the .CAB's on the HDD somewhere.

If it still doesn't work, you might wanna try just reinstalling the drivers for the modem.

That file is related to the Sygate personal firewall. Have you uninstalled it recently?

not quite sure on what is the deal with your modem. Been a long time since use dialup modems.

Thanks for info. I couldnt get the cd to work in safe mode. got teefer uninstalled. now the os wont boot, BSOD and halts. ???? Think this gentleman needs 2000 pro. Since 98 isnt supported any longer, reloading it , wont have any of the updated stuff and patches

You can still get 98(SE) updates from Windows Update site.
