Vid Card Questions! and more

I have a couple of newbie questions i guess !

What is AA? i know what it stands for but what does it do actually ?

How can i figure out if my Built by ati radeon 9500pro can be modded to a 9700pro level?
My core is at 305mhz atm * stock at about 275 , while memory is at 320mhz atm and stock is 275 also

if it can , anyone here up to a challenge of helping me do it ?

What are good temps for a Amd Athlon 2000+ , my board is running at 30c while my cpu is at about 45c on idle and over 55 when gaming, im using a Volcano 9 hsf with Artic 3 silver paste.

One more thing , My computer restarts out of the blue sometimes while im not doing anything , im just sitting infront of it while im watching tv and it just restarts for no reason , any suggestions?

stuff you might want to know about my system:

I have one slot cooler ( blower actually ) that pushes hot air out of my case , i have 3 fans pushing air in and 2 pushing air out .
+ 2 home fans blowing air onto my case holes ( dont ask :P)

Asus A7v8x-x board
768mb ram pc2100
ati radeon 9500pro
Amd Xp2000+ , was o\c but dropped it back because of the temps

Any help would be appreciated
Thx

Simply put:

On computer monitors the pixels themselves aren't curved, but they have to show curves. Using polygons to simulate curves in alphanumeric characters or vector graphics makes the edges of objects appear jagged. The technique for smoothing out these jaggies is called antialiasing, and it usually takes the form of throwing in pixels of washed-out color along the curve. This actually makes text seem a little blurred but, strangely enough, more readable...per CNET Glossary.

A little more detailed: http://www.widearea.co.uk/designer/anti.html

As for the Radeon: http://duhvoodooman.com/9500mod/9500mod_2.htm

Everything I remember said the 9500Pro wasn't hackable like the 9500np.
