Windows 2000 screensaver = no network activity

I have two computers running Windows 2000. The first one is the computer with the internet connection, the second one is this one. When nobody is logged on, a screensaver will eventually come up (with the 2k logo bouncing around). Problem is, when the screensaver is running on the first computer, I can't use any network stuff at all - no internet, no LAN. Is there a way I can either disable the screensaver or configure it to not block network traffic?

to disable the screen saver right click on your desktop, click propertise, then click the screen saver tab hit the drop down menu and click screen saver to none.

weird problem you are having there. is the computer that has the screen saver going into sleep mode or standby? to find out when your in the screen saver tab at the bottom click power and see if you have it to go into standby mode after a certain amount of time. turn it off if you do and see if that corrects your problem

Sounds like the computer with the screensaver is running ICS. My gues is you have that machine going into standby whenever the screensaver comes and that's what's disabling your network connection.

I'm reading a bit betwen the lines here though so I could be way off.

Well, the only thing is that for you to be able to right click on the desktop, someone has to be logged on, and is this scenario, no one is. I know how to change a screensaver of a user, but not the one that happens with just the login box on the screen.
