Win2k SP4 versus TBSC

Good news:
SP4 fixes the hibernation issues with my USB media reader.

Bad news:
When I bring the computer out of hibernation, I have no digital out on my Turtle Beach Santa Cruz.

I have the latest official drivers for the Santa Cruz. Tried changing VersaJack and speaker settings; only a reboot seems to fix it.

Any ideas on what the heck is going on? I haven't been able to find anything on the Internet about this.

might be a board issue, and not a soundcard issue. try updating your board's chipset drivers and see if it helps.

I'm running the latest Hyperion drivers, so I know that's not it.

the fact that you are running the latest drivers still doesn't rule out that your problem is specific to your mobo,etc..

i am running the turtle beach on my w2k box (SP4) w/o any problems...

I sent an e-mail to Turtle Beach, and all that they suggested was uninstalling and switching PCI slots.

What wisdom is there in this?

the real quesion is why do you consider it to be their (turtle beach's) fault?

sounds to me like it is a microsoft problem. if the sound card was fine before sp4, then apparently there is a problem w/one of the patches and your system (either mobo or some peculiar combination of factors).

for example. i have a tyan p3 duallie and there is one IE hotfix that causes memory crashes on my system. i simply just don't use that patch...and like you i am also runnigng the latest mobo drivers.

I don't know where you get that from. I ask Turtle Beach because it is their product; perhaps they have a clue. Even if it is a Microsoft issue, I would think that they would be aware of it....

it really doesn't hurt to try to change PCI slots.. if it still doesn't help change it back *shrug*

Maybe try downgrading your drivers one step?
Its an option...
Maybe reinstall the drivers.. or reinstall the SP

I'm just wondering if there is some efficacy to such a move, or it's just something that they hand out that sometimes works.

It's better than posting complaints about things you didn't try
