error message before win98se startsup

When I turn on my computer, just before windows starts a box pops up with the message $(SR_ALERT_NORESOURCE). I click ok and then indows starts. Any idea what this message means or is for?

It would seem to me that an application that is launching at start up can't find something associated with it. (file or device - usually device)

Have you installed any new programs lately?

Well, I got this 'puter from a friend who was going to trash it because the onboard sound and video didn't work . Someone told her that it would be cheaper to buy a new one.
But it was all driver related. I also updated the bios. That box has been coming up ever since. Otherwise everything works fine.
It's a 500mhz celeron.

Have you run System File Checker to see if any files are corrupt?

If it does find any I'd check back here and let us know what they are because I've heard that sometimes SFC incorrectly reports some files as being correct.

Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Information > Tools
