Windows apps to Linux/unix

Right, I know X is network transparent, and I find it really useful to have a kicker bar on my main rig that is running from my fileserver/other server occasionally.
However, does anyone know if there is a way to do the same for windows, ie run MS access over the network without having to use VNC. I have looked at X servers for windows, but I don't think they will do the job I'm after as windows apps don't work as X clients.
Is there a way?
