my question is a little different flavor from the rest of the tv-out questions that i have posted and i'm also not sure if it fits here anyways because of it being on a laptop.
here we go..
i have a dell inspiron 3800 with and ati rage mobility video adapter. it has a s-video tv-out and a standard 15 pin serial connection for a crt monitor as well. my question is, is it possible to be running both of these at once or can i only run the tv-out or 15 pin one at a time. obviously the laptops' lcd would be running as well. it is not so much as a problem as a curiousity. i have had both working indepenantly but have not been able to get them to work at the same time. my thoughts are that the system can only recognize one second monitor upon boot up an it automatically selects the 15 pin connection by default.
currently i use the the 15 pin to connect to a lcd projector and the svideo to connect to a tv for watching movies. i stream them across a wireless 802.11b network and if it is dark enough i watch them on the projector and screen, otherwise the tv.
i have the same laptop. if you are using the 15 pin, the lcd won't show. when you go into the displays you only have the 2 options there, meaning only 2 possible.
how do i get it to display to all three then? so far it will only display to panel + vga or panel + tv. i guess the only reason i want it to do all this is because i don't want to have to reboot to switch between the display modes, even though it isn't really a big deal.
It depends on how your particular notebook mainboard has the stuff wired up. Normally you'd set up CRT+panel from Windows Desktop Properties, and then enable the TV-out along with it.
