ok now were to start...................... i have 2 pc here (mine and the wifes) her pc connects to the broadband and i get me internet through our network cards. now wat i was wondering was can i put another network card in ma pc and then connect it to the xbox so it can get online and let me access it fae ma pc?????

i think the best solution would just to get a router. can it be done, yes, but not easily.

also a router will give you protection, hardware firewall, the outside world would only see your router not the machines behind it

yup get a router ... find one with a print server also this way you both can print to it without stressing either pc . if your wifes pc has the printer and you try to print while she is doing something it can crash her system ie playing a game .
