No Auto Play in xP Home Ed

Getting ready to ship this modified Dell 4300 to my son in Texas.
I've got everything working well for him,(he's not that PC savvy),, but it seems that neither the NEC 24x burner nor the 16x Lite-On DVD-ROM will auto play when a disk is inserted.

I've tried looking at the Auto Play tab for each drive, but nothing I select and apply seems to launch installation CDs, DVDs, or any disks that have the autorun feature.

What could be the problem here? Thanks.

what os are you on?

I would venture a guess at XP............

Just right click on your cd drive in My Computer. Then Click on AutoPlay Tab.

actually I believe you need to right click on the drive under My Computerand select properties and then click th autoplay tab and select "Prompt me each time to choose an action."
