Outdoors FX 5200 Unable to Bootup

Help!
I just brought a new GF FX5200 128Mb, and my computer will not boot up. My computer runs fine with my old GF2 Mx200.

I got it to bootup once, but as soon as I tryed to run a game, IGI2, to monitor went into standby mode and computer locked up.

There are no updates for my BIOS, it's only a week old.
The FX5200 works fine on my old Epox M/b.

My Specs:
Gigabyte 7N400-L1 M/b
AMD Athlon Xp 2.5Gb
512Mb DDR Ram
WinXp Pro SP1.

I know it's not software, it has to be my new m/b or the video card. Any ideas why it works on my old Epox M/b with AGPx4 and not my new Gigabyte 7N400-L1 with AGPx8??

Does your new motherboard have onboard video on it? if so make, make sure it is disabled through bios. (i dont think that would be a problem, i have the same mobo, just the pro version). Try reseating it, its possible its not seated correctly. And if you just have the regular GA-7N400, there is a bios update..i believe.

Na no onboard video.
I've checked it about 400 times, it's seated right.
I found a BIOS update 'f4' for GA-7N400-L1 and updated to it.

Still doesn't work.

I can't take it back, since it works fine in my old computer..

why cant you take it back? where did you purchase it from? was it on a credit card?

If it is on a credit card, just take it to return, if they give you bs, just leave it there...then call up your credit card company and they will back you.

I paid cash at a computer fair. They have a normal shop, but it's 3hrs away.

But if it works in my old computer, it might work in their computer, and they'll say there is nothing wrong with the card..

I want to know why it doesn't work with my new AGPx8 motherboard.

It's not a power problem, I unpluged both HD and CD drive, case fan, everything cept the cpu fan.

An old PCI 2Mb card works fine. My old AGP 32Mb card works fine.
My new 128Mb card works in another pc.
I'll test it in my dads computer.

It should work..

Set it to AGP 4x in the BIOS to see if it will boot. No need really to use 8x.

Edit: You're too quick for me Omardeth!

Okay, I forced my motherboard to use AGPx4. It still wont boot.
I get 1 long and 2 short beeps (Monitor or display card error).

When I run the motherboard in 'Flexible AGP 8X = auto', I don't get anything, the computer powers up, but that's it.

'4x' and 'auto' are the only setting I have.

The card runs fine on 2 other computer that have 4x AGP slots.
I don't have another 8x AGP board to test it on.

Don't really know what to do next, but I'm hanging to play IGI2..

I had to wipe my hard drive and reinstall everything before I got mine to work. I could only boot into safe mode before I did that.

Good Luck

I can't even get the my BIOS to come up.

My OS if fine, only built this computer a week ago.

Does anyone think it's a fault with the card or my m/b.
