I'm not sure what you are asking. I really don't think there is a way since the server needs to know where to send the info to.

I've seen people come in with an ip DomainName.com (of their choice)
Would i need to set up a prox though my domain or what?

Some irc servers mung the hostmask to prevent users easily discovering each others ip addresses. This should become immediately apparent if you run a quick /whois on your nick. Obviously any opers still have access to your real hostmask and many servers don't bother with this feature at all.
You can also connect through some form of proxy or bouncer and then the address of that machine will be shown as your point of origin. This is commonly employed by people with some form of linux/UNIX shell account access, although Win32 bouncers exist.
Regards
ed

Eddy is right about the Linux/UNIX shell bit. I am connected to an IRC server through a shell account and it doesn't show my IP it shows who I am connecting through. Kind of nice. |

Thanks for the info
Well, someone said an op changed it for him, all the ops have either theirdomain.com or 127.0.0.1 and some users have it too
Just curious if there was a way to do it on my side without using a proxy.
I downloaded a few identd servers from download.com and the only good one was tiny identd but that didn't allow me to change my hostname/ip
While we are on teh subject of identd, how do i install it, i hate waiting for 30 secs or more just to connect to an irc server i visit often
