Kids Another TV out question

Hi,

I am at my wits end.

I have a GeForce4 MX400 with S-video out, an s-video to composite cable (brand new), Windows98 SE, Nvidia WDM drivers, the latest Nvidia 44.03 display drivers, TV-tool, and all I can get is a black-and-white picture which rapidly rolls vertically down the TV screen too fast to establish anything other than that it is the PC deskop and that's about all you can tell.

With the TV and monitor attached, the TV comes on while Windows is loading and displays what is happening on the DOS side of booting but does not display Windows screens. As soon as Windows is loaded, the TV apparently deselects itself.

Then I have to enable it as a second monitor, at which point the signal appears immediately, every time - no problem there. It's just a b/w rolling image, that's all.

N-view and TV tool can't see the TV at all.

Anything I do to tinker with settings generally causes a crash. I have spent an afternoon messing about, reinstalling drivers, going in and out of safe mode to recover my desktop and so forth. Starting up with the TV only is a disaster and results in having to go in and out of safe mode to get my desktop back.

Any ideas? I have seen similar but not identical problems elsewhere but nothing quite like this, and cannot find any answers.

Thanks!!

It seems the card's BIOS fires the TV up in a wrong mode (as in PAL vs. NTSC or such). As for the Windows drivers, I have no idea what's going wrong.
