Asus ?????

I went to the Asus member area today for the first time in about a year just to find some information on the P4800C motherboard issues. Here is what I found to my suprize.

There site tech area forum is closed and the members area hasn't been updated for 11 months.

"NetQ Forum Notice

Dear ASUS Users,

Due to system maintenance, ASUS NetQ Forum will be closed temporarily from today onwards.

If you have any query regarding ASUS technical difficulty,

please fill in your problem and contacting detail via

http://www.asusmall.com.tw/forms/complaint_TSD.asp

for prompt feedback.

Thanks very much"

This doesn't look good for Asus fans of which I'm one......

And them buying out or merging with ECS throws up another red flag.

Yet, their forum closing is not good at all.

What is this ECS deal you wrote about ?

Supposedly Asus is using ECS boards to deal with the lower end market and calling them Asrock. I'm sure there are others here that can prolly fill you in further.

Still don't understand where you make this Asus / ECS connection.

Asus created ASRock to capture the low-end market.

ECS now has Syntax to counter ASRock.

Have not seen anything to suggest Asus is merging with/purchasing ECS...

Well thanks for the input................

About four months ago I spotted one of these Asrock boards in the computer store I used to frequent when I lived in Ma.
So being in the market to upgrade one of my kids computers I inquired with the owner of the store about why I had never heard of or seen one before. Now he is the one that put the bug in my ear about ECS and Asus. Something to the nature of "ECS is making these boards for Asus". Now I have considered this person as a pretty reliable source of info as he travels all over the country to computer shows and whatnot so I took him for his word. It is possible that he was misinformed.

But I'm going to ask him about this and see what he has to say.

I'm not looking for any help with my Asus products! I was just stating the fact that Asus seems to be changing their online support policies for some strange reason. Where other mfgs. seem to be making it easier to get support online................

I was just wondering why the change? Are there to many complaints recently that they don't want posted on their website?

No Biggie though, Thanks for the input.

Could jsut be a simple server upgrade or them upgrading the database system to MySQL4 or something like that.
OR they could just have been hacked.
