A nagging power problem
One of my machines is a 800 MHz duron with 512MB of pc133. It is running a voodoo5 right now but has had a gf2 ultra in it before. It is running on a soyo board. The os is win 98(fresh install).
My problem is, when the machine is turned off for more than a couple minutes it locks up upon startup. It may not be for a couple minutes...and it is never in the same place....but it does it every time. It has happened over 3 different OS installs (all 98) over the past year or so. All installs were done by removing the partition and reformating.
What I do is start up the machine, run scandisk once in the OS and let it freeze. I them hard boot it and it will work fine until I power it down again and start it the next day.
I thought it may be ram.....but that would not explain why it works fine after the initial lock up. The only other thing I can think of is the MB or PS......has anyone run into something like this?
Thanks.
