Office 2000 or Office XP

I have both and have used both. I personally like XP over 2000 but some of my macros will only work in 2000. So, I was wondering if there is any other reason why I should go with XP over 2000?

I like to new features in office XP. Havn't had any compatibilities with anything with it.

If you have both I'd say you're in the best of all worlds 'cause if something doesn't work in one you could just as easily use the other. AFAIK there are no issues have both versions installed on the same PC. I have Office XP and Office 97 installed on my work PC with no troubles what so ever (only one version of Outlook though)

I voted for XP just beacuse its newer, I have use both and 2000 gave me one anoying problem (it asked me for the CD every single time I entered!) as XP didnt give me any...

Both are very similar, XP takes much more space, for example, Word 2002 took me 140 MB while the 2000 Standard (Excel,Word,Outlook,PowerPoint) took me 160 MB!

If you do not afford or cant use XP I would say its no problem since 2000 is excellent (much better than 97)

I never really thought about putting both on my machine. I doubt that would not hurt anything at all. That would definintely solve my problem. The macro that will not work on Word 2002 is one that I use all the time when I have it. My system crashed recently and I am now re-configuring everything. After using Word XP without the macro for sometime, I really had considered going back to 2000 because I really missed the macro. But, I never even once considered running both on the machine. Duh! Thanks for the idea.

why not re-write your macro to work with office XP that way you have the lastest and greatest & your macro?

Just make sure you install them in diffferent directories. Weird things happen if you install them both in the same directory. Just trust me on this one.

Or you could do what MntSnow said..

When clients complain about XP not working properly, I tell them to upgrade to Windows 2000.

Yeah, I could see where that might be a problem. Don't want any of those kind of problems; I already have enough problems as it is!

I did not write the macro and am not literate in that area. It is a macro that is an add on for a program I have. I am not sure why the author has not written a macro yet for Word 2002 since it has been out for quite a while now. Well, perhaps it is because it is Freeware might have something to do with it. But, if I knew how to do it, I would. I am sorry if the term "my macros" in my first post lead you to believe that I authored them. I am very ignorant in this area; although, I am not against learning.
