Outdoors WINXP FREE SPACE ERRORS

Hi, I have a self built Asus a7v333 w/ amd xp2100 and 256 corsair xms ddr. adaptec 19160 ulta scsi card and 2 seagate scsi barracudas 18 gig each 1 pioneer scsi dvd player and 1 hp 9200i scsi cd/rw ,xtasy nvidia ti-4600 128 ,creative live platinum sound
i have 2 ide hd 1 maxtor ata100 80 gig connected to standard ata100 bus and a maxtor ata133 ultra 9 120 gig connected to the onboard promise raid 133 controller. oh winxp pro with sp1 installed all in a antec soho file server with a 430w amd approved power supply..
the problem i having is the 120 gig hard drive has about 100 gigs of backup games home movies programs of my own that i backup
and when i deleted or moved any of the files my free space doesnt get larger as if the files i deleted or moved are still there
and this only happens on that 120 gig hd not the 80 or the scsi hd's. and what i've done so far is ran the maxtor diagnostics with no errors and contacted maxtor"they don't feel its the hd'.
Microsoft has no warranty for my OS because it's OEM purchased with my motherboard. i have tried the xp disc utilities and when i restart it never runs on that hd all other drives the utilities run successfully, defrag runs and says most files can't be moved. the main folder where all the files are as file size is 110 gig out of 119 gig so there is some space floating there somewhere. sorry so long . all help will be greatly appreciated Vince....

Are these files you want to keep are just delete to make more space? If you just want to delete the files try pressing F8 while your system is booting. You will get a choice of boot options. Choose "command prompt". Try deleting from here. Are you familiar with dos commands?

Have you tried deleting from the command prompt? Also if that drive only has data you don't care about you can got to Disk Management and reformat that drive or delete the partition and recreate it.

Talk Problem solved !!!!

Thanks for any help that was suggested.. the problem was Norton internet security pro with it's cool recycle bin protector it was keeping files that i had deleted or moved as protected files for some reason, home movies and games and my personal software. seems kinda dumb but after browsing thru protected files i found 15 gig of files i had moved or deleted.. reading and research is good brain food...thanks all Vince
