sv266a replacing k75sa

I've installed a new mobo(Syntax sv266a), the old one was an ECS k75sa. I have an athlon 1.2 chip, 2 hard drives, a cd player and cd burner.Additionally I have an AGP 32 meg video card and a nic card. The power supply is 350 watts

My problem is that once I get through the boot process(everything seems ok here) the system reboots when windows XP starts up.

I've pulled all drives(cd and hard) except 1, it still shuts down on windows startup.
I've tried starting up with XP in the cd, but same results
Tried going in safe mode, no luck
tried setting bios to failsafe, no luck.

Any help is greatly appreciated

You didn't reinstall Windows, or did you?

Point being that your existing Windows installation, with SiS IDE drivers installed, can't boot from a VIA chipset's IDE channels. This is well known, best cure is to reinstall the OS.

Why did you change boards anyhow? The SV266A is considerably slower than K7S5A, so why did you do that?

I guess I didn't check the specs close enough.

Would it be easier just to pack it up, and order the k75sa.

The website I got off of said it was the old boards twin.

Well, as you found out and others knew already, these aren't twins. If you want something slightly more modern but still compatible to your XP installation, get K7S5Apro. It uses the same chipset and the same essential other parts and layout characteristics - plus a USB 2.0 controller, but minus one COM port and the legacy game port.
