How do I know what speed ram I need?

doesn't say anything in my bios and I can't remember wayy back when I got it.

I have a 333celeron, don't remember motherboard either
i know its all SDram, i added 128 a few months back, just went in and asked for ram and they gave me some and it worked with my old ram just fine so it can't be that oldschool.

If ram says "100% compatible" is it REALLY 100% compatible?

hit up crucial.com (use the link in the forums and help out techimo) and search for your motherboard type, or pc manufacturer. crucial will tell you what kind of memory you need. since you have an old celly like that, i am thinking pc66, but they could tell you better than i could.

All the newer SDRAM modules (PC100, 133, etc) are backwards-compatible, so it shouldn't make much difference, as long as you know the system does use SDRAM. As storm2k said, Crucial's site should be able to tell you what you need based on your your system's model number.

Best of luck!

if he's using a celeron, he will be using sdram. i don't think intel has non-sdram support in celeron systems, since they run (ran) the same chipsets as p2 and katami p3 chips.

please correct me if I am wrong, but:

as far as I know, if your PC can use SDRAM, then you can get the newer stuff and not have any problems.
One suggestion I heard was to install the newer ram cards in the first slot.
I just bought 2 256MB SDRAM PC133 for two machines at home.
one supports the 133, the other doesnt, but it should work fine.

the bottom line is you just wont get any thing out of it, as far as you pc running faster or anything, BESIDES the fact that it now has more RAM

the only issue I know of is ECC and non-ecc types, but I dont know anything about that......or is that registered and non-registered?????

first of all, typing in slang is terrible. i hate people who do it.

that should work, but with newer ram it won't because of the way it works.

but, pc100 or 133 should work fine.

did i offend you storm?

slang makes the difference when im typing because i dont like it much when you have to type in something extremly quick for an emergency and you just have to have proper grammer, now that isn't necessary.

do you hate me now?

If it's a celeron 333, then the mobo prolly only supports pc66, but like everyone else said, 100/133 is backward compatible and should work.

Thanks!

I was wondering that too -

And - as for slang - most times I try to get it right - but I never took typing and now I'm at least a three fingered wonder - Slang comes when I cannot type fast -

Spell check would help me - but thats ok - as I keep going it will get better.
