need uses for my 56k modem

i have a USRobotics 56k modem, that i will no be using for internet anymore. As of today i will be on cable internet. FINALLY . i dont want the modem to go to waste id like to use it to make phone calls, if thats possible, or as a caller ID. Anyone know how i can do either of these things. it is not a voice modem.

i dont fax i wnated to use it as a phone or caller ID. Any thoughts?

I dont think you can use it as a phone if it is not a voice modem.

Did a CD come with the modem they usually have some software with them.

I don't know if you could use your modem as caller ID.. I think the only software I've ever seen for PCs that did caller ID was built into the phone application for voice modems.

Keep it! I had to clear my CMOS, and reinstall Win98SE after I installed my new 1700+..guh, long story

Needless to say, I'm using my dial up right now because I lost all my settings for my Comcast account, they left me no install disk, and everyone that I could get the stuff from went to bed! ARGH!

Always have a back up plan! Or three. You never know when you won't be able to connect to TIMO :::shudders at the thought::

need a door held open? no seriously there must be a way to do the caller id thing because aol have been advertising their bilt in caller id thing like mad....might require that it be a voice modem but i doubt it

Like RedFury said keep it. I'm on Broadband but one evening the broadband went down at my ISP's end. I had to use dialup but was grateful it was there waiting.
