I have a DFI G586IPC mobo w/a Cyrix 8x86 in an old comp that I would like to tweak. Prob is that I've heard that Cyrix over heats bad when OCed. So, would I b better off finding a processor 2 replace the Cyrix w/or just try 2 OC what I have? & if I replace, what would be the best processor 2 go after?

Cyrix CPU's of that type weren't very good over-clockers. Then again, most types of CPU's from that era weren't terribly great at it either (at least not compared to CPU's from more recent times), nor was the HX chipset that your motherboard contains.

My advice would be to stick with what you have and give it a try....see what you are able to push that Cyrix to do.

If you decide to get something else, you are going to be fairly limited in what the board will support, so I'd look to get an AMD CPU. Overclocked or not, IMHO the AMD socket 7 CPU's from that timeframe were the fastest.
