I'm with madmaludawg. Many more thousands of people died in WWII and look at all the games derived from that point in history. WWII Vets I bet dont find near the enjoyment of say BF1942 that most gamers today find in that game. Because 9/11 was so recent, it's gonna leave a bad taste many peoples mouth. If this game was made 50 years down the road....no-one would really care. They have every right to make and publish this game. I'm sure it will end up in a lawsuit somewhere though if it's released retail. |

If you feel otherwise that's your deal but I just can't see it any other way. | Dude, its just a game. Don't tell me you don't play Medal of Honor or Battlefield where Allied troops get killed. This mod is far from offensive considering the other stuff thats out there...

Most people take this stuff for what its meant to be, a work of art: a game... its nothing more than that.
Game developers usually don't make games to get their political views across... they make it because they enjoy making it and because they want people to enjoy what they made.

I can't believe you are seeing it like that! Among the most patriotic people i know are right on these forums and this has been met with a kind of indifference.
It's not like making games about war at all. It's like making a game about the nazi invasion of poland which sparked the second world war (Imagine "Tremble as blood-thirsty fascists chase you into the town centre, cart of the jewish and execute them! Just like real life!")
But whatever, you can install it and call it "cool" if you want to, just not my bag really...

Well many veterans don't mind too much, as long as no one is spitting on anyones memory or what not. My grandfather fought in World War II and was there most of the war (when Allies were involved) and he enjoys watching movies and watching me play games related to it.
Ah well if this game is just an add-on and people want to make it, I say let them. Who are we to tell them what's right and what's wrong?

IOW, this game is not promoting Americans getting killed or forcing you to do that. I'll say it once, and I'll say it again... there are far worse games out there that glorify violence.

I haven't played either of the games you listed but I've play RTCW and ET a bunch so you do have a very valid point there Madmaludawg. Guess I'm desensitized to that 'cuause we've made so many movies, stories, etc about WW1 and WW2 that I never though about it.
I guess I just consider a terrorist attack to be completely different from a war. In combat you're supposed to be fighting against another army and work to minimize the civilian causalities. In 9/11 they directly targeted innocent civilians. Guess it doesn't seem like a fair comparison to me. Now if they were to make a mod where you hunted down the members of Osamma's terrorist group and brought them to justice I think that would be a GREAT game.
