Dell Dimension 4500 and a new sound card. Help!!!

Hello,

A friend of mine bought a new sound card - Sound Blaster 5.1 and Logitech 640 speakers. He has a Dell Dimension 4500 with integrated sound chip. I told him to disable the integrated card in BIOS and install a new card. He did that. However, he has to install a new card every time after restarting his computer. I am sure that both the card and the speakers are fine because they worked perfectly with my computer. Any suggestions? Thanks!

OS?

Have you also deleted the integrated sound card in device manager? I know Creative prefers that the drivers be installed by their program, not the add new hardware function in Windows.

Try this, uninstall the Creative drivers (and the integrated sound, if necessary). Reboot and close the New Hardware Found message when it appears. Put the disc in the drive and run the Creative driver install.
