sorry to be the bearer of bad news, however with the deskstar series of drives (7200rpm) There was an issue where when the clicking occured then it was time to cross your fingers, back up data and get a new drive. I have a 60gxp (40gb) deskstar that did that, lasted on average of 3 months before it ceased to work. THen id rewrite "ones" to the drive and start again. GOt sick of that so i then got a seagate 8mb cache drive and rma'd the deathstar. Got a new drive in 3 weeks from aus so that was pretty good. I know that there was a class action against the 75gxp drive whose failure rate was up to 2/3 or something extraordinarly high. Having said that my ibm drive is still faster than my seagate.
