Outdoors Cold cathode light flickering!

I just did some cable rearranging today and, all of a sudden, my cold cathode light is flickering and such constantly. It's also gotten fairly hot. Is there some kind of problem with it, or could it be something with my power supply?

it maybe a loose wire try wiggling the wires even by the tube it self . i have some finniky ones that the wire needs to be in just the right position to light (factory ends by the tube)

Well, SOMEthing was wrong with the CC light itself. I watched it while it was turned on and it was burning and sparking on the bottom as the light flickered. There's a nasty burn mark that goes most of the way through the wire right at the very bottom of the CC tube. Time to RMA this sucker.

Hm, it could have been power fluctuation as well. Since my dorm's outlet placement is absolutely idiotic, my roommate and I had almost everything plugged into one outlet, and almost nothing into the other. He just brought in a new fridge yesterday, so we had my computer + monitor, two fridges and a microwave in one outlet. So my computer's over to the other outlet through some major cable finagling, and it should be fine at this point.

that could very well be the problem, too much draw from that circuit .run a good extension cord, good meaning not one of those thin wired cords. one that looks as thick as the power cord from your computer. 14 gauge i think

It plugs into the power supply by a 4-pin connector.

Like I said, I switched it over to another outlet after this happened, and so far things seem just fine. And yes, I'm using the cable that came with the power supply, which is nice and thick and sturdy.
