Red Hat Linux & SATA Support
Hello everyone =)
I've got a nice shiny new computer here that I just built, and I've installed WinXP Pro on it, but Red Hat's installer doesn't recognize my Seagate SATA drives so I can't have Linux for now and I'm really missing it!! =(
I did a little research online over the last half hour or so and it seems there are a lot of problems similar to the one I'm having. I guess it's not fully supported yet or something... I'm not geeky enough to try patching my kernel by myself, and no telling what other steps I might have to take to try to get this to work, so I was just wondering if anyone knew the low down on when I can expect SATA support in Red Hat?
So, where does a guy go to find out what new technologies are being developed and when they can be expected? ...for the linux kernel, or even a specific distro I mean? SATA support would be a kernel issue right? So in other words, if this is already being developed, where would I go to find out when I can expect it to show up in my favorite distro? or in the kernel if that's where it will be?
I'm still real new to the Linux community, so I admit, I have no clue where to look, or for that matter even what I'm doing if it's more complicated than a simple problem =)
Oh, I tried a search at redhat.com but I only found posts dealing with specific problems; I didn't see anything about when I could expect SATA support included in an upcoming version... and I looked on distrowatch too, but no luck there either... maybe I just didn't look hard enough though =)
Anyway... I'll stop rambling... if anyone could give me some info or let me know where to look, I'd be very greatful =)
Thank you,
Kaziah
