Outdoors Watching cable on PC via LeadTek WinFast 2000 Deluxe.

Hi, New to this sort of thing......

i live in the UK and have Telewest Digital Cable. I bought a LeadTek tv card and although i can play avi movies through it, i'm not getting any cable pictures through.
The tv sits about 3 meters away from the pc and i have got the rf cable from the box linked up to an arial extension to reach the tv card. After fine tuning, all i get is flashing blue bars at various levels on the PVR screen.

Anyone know where i am going wrong?

is there a cable setting on the card? On my Hauppauge WinTV (I have Digital Cable in the states though), I had to change a setting from Cable to Cable-M, I'm not sure how the Leadtek software is though so I'm not sure if this will help.
