Kids RV350 newer features worth it?

If i am correct, the R300 core was used in both the 9500 and 9700 cards. The R350 is in the 9800 and RV350 in the 9600.

Now, with the newer 9500 Pros not being able to be modded to 9700 pro performance, would the updated features in the 9600 Pro be an overall better choice than a 9500 Pro?

I understand that the 9500 Pro benchmarks better than the 9600 Pro, but it is usually not that much better and the increase in FPS would not be noticable by the human eye. Would the RV350 core in the 9600 Pro offer any more eyecandy than the 9500 Pro?

I dunno, but I just ordered the Radeon 9600 Pro. I know they cut down on the pipelines and what not in the RV350 compared to the R350, and there's lower power consumption because the core being a .13 micron, so you don't need the external power source. Just remember, you can overclock the RV350 alot which is what I am hoping so that I get performance levels of a 9700 Pro, so I can save myself ~$130 I'll post back how far I could get it to overclock.

The 9500Pro is indeed a little faster than the 9600Pro but both of them are good buys. Just look for the better price or bundle!

RV350, in its incarnation as 9600pro, is clocked way higher than 9500pro. The latter is a bit faster, but the performance delta isn't that much. In return, being a 0.13micron manufactured part, it runs much cooler and with less power and noise.
Besides, with the 9500pro being sort of expensive to make, prices for the 9600pro are already lower than the 9500pro ever was, at least here in Germany.
I'd go for the 9600pro.

Same for the 9500 vs. 9600 - while 9500 has the RAM bus width halved, the 9600 is just slower clocked; most non-pro 9600 cards are even passively cooled.
