Problem setting up system
Hey all!
I just got a cheap system online its a dell optiplex PIII 128 mb ram 6 gig drive, you know basic stuff. I want to set up a network at home. Here's my problem, it doesn't have an OS on it. But I have Windows 2K I want to install on it. I can't install Win2k in DOS so I had to dig up my Win98 CD. But before anything I ran FDISK and noticed that there is an Primary partition and an extended partition. Problem #1 is that it won't let me delete these partitions! Obviously you have to delete the extended b4 the primary. But when I try to delete the extended it says CANNOT delete because logical drive is active. So when I try to delete logical drive, it says there is no logical drive! So I said oh well, and installed Win98. Before it began installing it said that Windows deteced NT partition on the drive and it couldn't be read with 98, ok. So after 98 is installed I want to install Win2k, but problem #2 is that after I pop in the disk, it says Windows 2000 cannot detect the current version of Windows you are running therefore cannot install. My questions are, is this because of the partition problem? If so how can I fix this partition issue? Thanks...
