If you "exported" from the office machine you were given the option to password protect it. Guessing you choose this option?

Let me guess
You put it on a cd and took it home?

Right click the file, and go to properties
Uncheck "Read Only"
(btw, you can't read a pst directly from cd as you need write access to it to read it ... stupid rule but true)

I never exported the pst file. It was auto archive pst from work so i just burned it on to CD and I did copy it to my hard drive and unchecked read only and I still could not access it.

Outlook pst

I am having the same problem.

Here is a little more detail:

.PST on WinXP, Office XP. Burned to CD.
Rebuild on Win2k, Office2k. Copy .PST from CD to HDD, remove RO attrib.

Add Personal Folders, type in filename, get "... is not a personal folders file".

Try it on Win2k/OffXP - same result.

>{

Scanpst - doesn't help - I wind up with a very large "empty" file.
pst19upg.exe - fails immediately (probably because it thinks it's not a pst)

Any other ideas?
